German Spruce is very powerful but also dynamic with the ability to be articulate at a low volume. It has a brilliant harmonic structure that develops beautifully with time. Although it is slow to age, a mature German top has the ability to produce bell-like treble voicings and robust, full bodied bass and midrange. German is a very complex spruce with a fundamental that is warm to begin with. This said, I think that German Spruce is best suited to fingerstyle playing.
