RED SPRUCE
:: Picea rubens
Red Spruce is well known for its use in pre-war American guitars. It is somewhat aesthetically challenged, but unparalleled in the tonal category. This material matches the power and strength of Sitka but offers brilliance and radiance right out of the gate. The nature of its harmonic structure is distinctive. The treble has a sparkle at the edge of the note, while the bass and midrange exhibit shimmering qualities unique to Red Spruce. This is usually my choice for someone looking for an all-around guitar. |
