ZIRICOTE
:: Cordia dodecandra
This exquisite material comes from the Gulf of Mexico region. The variegated black lines form patterns that can resemble a surrealist landscape. It is very dense. I liken it more to ebony than any of the rosewoods. Ziricote can be cavernous and hollow sounding. It is reflective like Cocobolo, but much darker and tends to echo rather than sustain. |
